Texas A&M currently has approximately 50,000 students and 2,700 faculty all of which will be provided for under the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) wireless architecture being supported on campus by Layer 3 Communications ( news article). Students and teachers will be able to connect their personal devices to the campus wireless network with ease. The major determining factors in the selection of the Aruba wireless solution being supported by Layer 3 communications was stability and performance of the Aruba AP-125 platform. Layer 3 has been advised of vulnerabilities within the JUNOS firmware. The vulnerabilities while they exist are only accessible when on the trusted networks the devices inhabit. The vulnerabilities involve cross-site scripting against the J-Web interface and command security bypass on the CLI. We have already sent out an advisory to all of our Juniper customers regarding this issue.
