Children's Hospital is a large pediatric hospital located in Birmingham, Alabama. With over 3000 users within a 6 building downtown campus and 18 remote clinics, Children's Hospital chose Layer 3 Communications for a wide array of services.
- Design Services: physical, data center, network and security infrastructure
- Security Analysis: security audit and vulnerability analysis
Crawford Communication's provides satellite services for video broadcasting and Internet services to foreign countries. They also lease state-of-the-art video and voice production facilities. Layer 3 Communications was contracted to develop budgets, plan and manage a corporate relocation that occurred over a three-month period in 2000.
- Design Services: physical, data center and network infrastructure. WAN (Satellite ISP, 6 Customers), VPN (25 Remote Access users), LAN (700 switched Ethernet ports).
- Implementation Services: project management, construction administration of the physical and data center infrastructure. Product fulfillment & reconciliation, programming, staging, installation, testing and verification of the network infrastructure.
- Support Services: Maintained existing network in the old facility during move. Post implementation, training, and documentation.
Layer 3 Communications was contracted by Nortel Networks to provide design and implementation services to convert their corporate campus from Token Ring to Ethernet.
- Design Services: Consulting.
- Implementation Services: Programming, staging, installation, testing and verification of all network components (~10,000 switched Ethernet ports)
- Support Services: Maintained existing Token Ring network during migration. Post implementation, training, and documentation.
The Fulton County School System's data network integrates 48 elementary schools, 15 middle schools, 13 high schools and 8 supporting sites to the Central Administration Office.
- Design Services: Consulting towards 5 year technology plan. WAN and LAN including firewall.
- Implementation Services: product fulfillment & reconciliation. Programming, staging, installation, testing and verification. Complete WAN in 1999 LAN overhaul in 2001 and 2002.
- Support Services: post implementation, training & documentation. Custom maintenance.
Georgia Department of Education
State Agency supporting the K-12 school system in the State of Georgia.
- Design Services: Complete LAN overhaul.
- Implementation Services: product fulfillment & reconciliation. Programming, staging, installation, testing and verification of all network components.
- Support Services: post implementation. Registered all network elements for maintenance with appropriate manufacturer.
State agency that is responsible for administering Medicare and Medicaid for the State of Georgia. Layer 3 Communications performed an audit, and based on recommendations, upgraded the existing ATM network. Developed a plan and design for transition to Ethernet.
- Design Services: network audit, consulting, LAN and WAN including high availability firewall and transition from ATM to Ethernet.
- Implementation Services: Product fulfillment. Programming, staging, installation, testing and verification of all network components.

Scientific Atlanta is a worldwide manufacturer of broadband cable equipment. Layer 3 Communications performs the following services:
- Design Services: network and security infrastructure -WAN (25 sites), worldwide VPN (WAN backup, 500 remote access users), LAN (~10,000 switched Ethernet ports), and high availability firewall.
- Implementation Services: product fulfillment & reconciliation, programming, staging, installation, testing and verification.
- Support Services: post implementation, training, documentation, staff augmentation and customized maintenance.
South Carolina Department of Transportation
Engaged in the deployment of a statewide traffic monitoring system, including, comprehensive network management.
- Design Services: LAN, WAN, network management, network security Consulting.

- Support Services: Post Implementation. Documentation.
Vulcan Materials is an international enterprise with over 250 remote offices including 6 divisional offices. Layer 3 Communications was selected as the prime data vendor for products and services in 2001 and continue to provide an array of professional services.
- Design Services: WAN Dial Back-up (250 sites including 6 divisional offices), Dial Backup, LAN.
- Implementation Services: Completed an implementation for the headquarters campus LAN in late 2001. Implemented dial backup redundancy across the entire WAN in 2001.
